The stone and the design are the same whichever metal you choose. The biggest difference in price is the metal: 925 sterling silver costs far less than 10K, 14K or 18K solid gold or platinum. Each listing shows the price for every metal, so you can see exactly what an upgrade would cost.

Silver or gold?

  • 925 sterling silver: the lowest price and a bright white look. Silver is softer than gold and can tarnish, so polish it now and then and have the prongs checked once a year.
  • 10K or 14K gold: stronger, does not tarnish, and better suited to a ring you will wear every day for decades.

Getting the most ring for your money

  • A simple solitaire usually costs less than a halo or pavé design with many small stones.
