Lab Grown Diamond Ring Prices 2026: What You Pay by Carat

Lab grown diamonds cost far less than mined diamonds of the same size, and their prices have fallen a lot in recent years. At Bhumi Gems, a simple lab grown diamond solitaire costs $1,299 for 1 carat in 14K gold and $1,599 for 2 carats. Here are our real prices by carat and metal, what changes the price, and how to get the most diamond for your budget.

Lab Grown Diamond Ring Prices by Carat

Prices for our simple lab grown diamond solitaires, checked in October 2026. All centre stones are E-F color (colorless) and VVS1 to VVS2 clarity.

Centre stone 925 sterling silver 14K solid gold
1 ct (about 6.5 mm round) $499 $1,299
2 ct (about 8.1 mm round) $799 $1,599
3 ct (about 9.3 mm round) $1,099 $1,899

Prices change over time, and every product page shows the current price for each carat weight and metal. Halo, pavé and other heavier designs cost about 15% more in gold. Browse lab grown diamond engagement rings or the 2 carat lab grown diamond rings.

Colored Lab Grown Diamond Ring Prices

Fancy color lab grown diamonds cost more than colorless ones because the color is grown or created on purpose and fewer stones are made. Our colored lab grown diamond engagement rings come in fancy intense blue, pink, yellow and green, all priced the same, so the price depends only on the carat weight and the metal. Prices checked in October 2026, VVS1 to VVS2 clarity, IGI report included.

Colored centre stone 925 sterling silver 10K solid gold 14K solid gold
1 ct $647.49 $1,147.49 $1,347.49
2 ct $1,322.49 $1,822.49 $2,022.49
3 ct $1,997.49 $2,497.49 $2,697.49

Each extra carat adds $675 on a colored stone, whichever metal you choose. 18K gold is $200 more than 14K, and platinum adds $100 plus $30 per carat over 14K. In nature, blue and pink diamonds cost many times more than yellow; in the lab the four colors cost the same, which is the real saving. Read how the colors are made in our colored lab grown diamond guide, or browse blue, pink, yellow and green rings.

What Decides the Price

1. Carat Weight

With lab grown diamonds, the stone is a large part of the price. In our store, each extra carat adds $300 on a simple solitaire, whichever metal you choose. That is a much gentler climb than with mined diamonds, where larger stones are rare and the price per carat jumps sharply.

2. Color and Clarity

We use E-F color and VVS clarity, which is near the top of both scales. Elsewhere you will see lower grades such as G-H color or VS clarity for less money; at normal viewing distance many people cannot see the difference. If you compare prices between sellers, compare the same grades. Fancy colors (blue, pink, yellow, green) are graded on a separate scale and priced above colorless stones, as the table above shows.

3. The Metal

On a simple 1 ct solitaire, moving up from sterling silver adds about $500 for 10K gold, $800 for 14K gold and $1,000 for 18K gold. Platinum costs about 10% more than 14K gold. For a ring worn every day, solid gold or platinum lasts better. Yellow and rose on sterling silver and platinum are plated finishes. See white gold vs platinum.

4. The Design

A plain solitaire is the most affordable. Halo, hidden halo, pavé and split-shank designs add metal, small stones and setting work, about 15% on top in gold. Special cuts such as the Dutch marquise, Portuguese or old European cost about 20% more.

5. Grading Reports

Some sellers charge extra for an independent laboratory grading report. Our lab grown diamond rings and bridal sets with a centre diamond of 1 carat or more come with an IGI grading report included in the price, as well as our own certificate of authenticity stating the stone, carat and metal. See IGI vs GIA for what the report shows.

Why Lab Grown Diamond Prices Keep Falling

Lab grown diamonds are made in factories using two methods, CVD and HPHT, and production has grown and become more efficient year after year. More supply and cheaper production have pushed prices down steeply since around 2020. That is good news if you are buying, but it also means lab grown diamonds resell for little. We explain both sides in are lab grown diamonds worth it? and CVD vs HPHT.

Lab Grown Diamond vs Moissanite vs Mined Diamond

For a 2 carat solitaire in 14K gold in our store:

  • Moissanite: about $700. See our moissanite ring price guide.
  • Lab grown diamond: $1,599.
  • Mined diamond: many times more for a similar size and quality.

A lab grown diamond is a real diamond with the same hardness and white sparkle as a mined one. Moissanite is a different gem with more rainbow fire and a much lower price. Compare them in moissanite vs lab grown diamond.

How to Get the Most for Your Budget

  • Choose a shape that looks bigger. Oval, pear and marquise look larger per carat than round. See oval vs round.
  • Spend on the stone, then the metal. 14K gold is the usual sweet spot for daily wear.
  • Add sparkle with the setting. A halo or hidden halo makes a 1 carat centre look bigger. Browse hidden halo engagement rings.
  • Do not buy for resale. Buy the ring you love wearing.
