Marquise Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

The marquise is a long, boat-shaped stone with a point at each end. It gives the most face-up size per carat of any classic shape and makes the finger look longer. Our marquise lab grown diamond rings are made to order in 925 silver, 10K, 14K or 18K gold, or platinum.

The Most Size for the Weight

Because a marquise is long and shallow for its weight, it covers more of the finger than any other classic shape. A 1 ct marquise is about 10 x 5 mm and a 2 ct about 12 x 6 mm, so a modest carat weight can look very generous.

Ratio and Symmetry

Most marquises fall between 1.75 and 2.25. Around 2.00 is the classic shape; lower looks fuller, higher looks slender and dramatic. The two points should line up straight through the centre and the two curved sides should match.

Two Points to Protect

Each end is held by a V-shaped prong or a claw that wraps the tip, so a knock lands on metal rather than the diamond. Marquises can also show a bow-tie across the middle; a faint one is normal.

Vintage or Modern

With a halo or milgrain the marquise has a vintage feel; on a plain band or set across the finger it looks modern and minimal. For an angular antique version in moissanite, see our Dutch marquise rings, or compare marquise moissanite rings.

Common Questions

Does a marquise look bigger than other shapes?

Yes. For the same carat weight it has the largest face-up area of the classic shapes. A 1 ct marquise is about 10 x 5 mm.

What ratio should a marquise have?

About 1.75 to 2.25, with 2.00 as the classic proportion.

Are the points delicate?

They are the most exposed part of the stone, which is why each one is held by a V-shaped prong or claw.

Is a marquise a vintage shape?

It has a long history and suits vintage settings, but on a plain or curved band it looks clean and modern.

How long does it take?

Each ring is made to order in 8 to 10 business days, then free standard shipping takes 8 to 20 business days, or express 6 to 9 business days.
