Cushion Cut Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

A cushion has a square or slightly rectangular outline with softly rounded corners, like a pillow. It has a romantic, slightly vintage feel and large flashes of fire. Our cushion lab grown diamond rings are made to order in 925 silver, 10K, 14K or 18K gold, or platinum.

Square or Elongated

A cushion with a ratio between 1.00 and 1.10 reads as square. Above about 1.15 it becomes an elongated cushion, which looks longer on the finger and sits between a square cushion and an oval. Check the stone measurements on each listing to see which you are choosing.

Big Flashes and Soft Corners

Cushions are cut with large facets that throw bold flashes of light and color, more fire than most shapes. The rounded corners are also less exposed than the sharp points of a princess, which makes the cushion a practical everyday shape.

Size and Depth

Cushions tend to be cut a little deeper than other shapes, so they can look slightly smaller from the top for their weight. As a guide, a 1 ct square cushion is about 5.5 to 6 mm and a 2 ct about 7 to 7.3 mm. A halo or hidden halo makes the stone look bigger without adding much weight.

Antique Cushion Styles

The cushion is the modern descendant of the old mine cut. If you love that antique look, see our old mine cut moissanite rings, or compare the same shape in cushion cut moissanite.

A cushion with a length-to-width ratio above about 1.15. It looks longer on the finger, somewhere between a square cushion and an oval.

Why does a cushion look smaller than its carat weight?

Is a cushion good for everyday wear?

Yes. Its rounded corners are less exposed than sharp-cornered shapes, which makes it a practical choice.

Do the rings come with a certificate?

Each ring ships with a Bhumi Gems certificate of authenticity, and centre diamonds of 1 carat or more also come with an IGI grading report.

How long does it take?

Each ring is made to order in 8 to 10 business days, then free standard shipping takes 8 to 20 business days, or express 6 to 9 business days.
