Prices change over time, and each product page always shows the current price for every metal and size. Halo, pavé, split-shank and other heavier designs cost about 15% more in gold because they use more metal and more small stones: a 2 ct oval halo with a pavé band, for example, is about $805 in 14K gold.
What Decides the Price
1. The Metal
This is the biggest factor. On a simple solitaire in our store, moving up from sterling silver adds:
- 10K gold: about $400
- 14K gold: about $500
- 18K gold: about $600
- Platinum: the 14K price plus about 10%, on designs that offer it

2. The Stone Size
With moissanite, a bigger stone costs only a little more. In our store each extra carat adds $50, so going from a 1 ct to a 3 ct look adds just $100. That is why many couples choose a larger stone than they could afford in diamond. Use our size chart to see how each size looks in millimetres.
3. The Design

Standard colorless shapes are the most affordable. Special cuts that take more cutting work, such as the Dutch marquise, Portuguese, old European, hexagon and trillion, cost about 20% more.

There is no rule. The often-quoted "two to three months' salary" began as a diamond advertising slogan, not as financial advice. A better approach:
- Set a budget you are comfortable with before you start looking, and leave room for the wedding band.
- Talk about it. Many couples choose the ring together, or at least share style ideas and a price range.
- Spend where it lasts. If you are choosing between a bigger stone in silver and a slightly smaller one in 14K gold, gold usually wears better for daily use.
