Brilliant Facets, Trimmed Corners

The radiant was designed to give a rectangular or square stone the sparkle of a round. Its facets run in a brilliant pattern, but its corners are cut off, so there are no sharp points to catch or chip. The result is lively, crushed-ice sparkle in a clean geometric outline.

Square or Elongated

A radiant with a ratio near 1.00 to 1.05 looks square. Around 1.20 to 1.35 it becomes the elongated radiant, the most popular version today, which lengthens the finger. As a guide, a near-square 1 ct radiant is about 6 x 5.5 mm and a 2 ct about 7.5 x 6.5 mm; elongated stones are longer and narrower for the same weight.
